Alligator Lake Park
Alligator Lake Park is one of Columbia County’s most popular recreation areas, offering nearly 1,000 acres of green space, trails, and wetlands. Acquired initially through the Florida Preservation 2000 grant program, this park is a popular spot for outdoor activities like hiking, biking, fishing, and watching wildlife. With 12 miles of trails, a canoe launch, and six covered pavilions, it’s easy to spend the day here. Each fall, it hosts the Alligator Lake 5K Invitational, drawing close to 1,000 high school runners.

Swim in Crystal-Clear Waters
Ichetucknee Springs State Park
Just 25 miles south of Lake City, Ichetucknee Springs State Park is a 2,669-acre natural sanctuary best known for its crystal-clear springs and diverse wildlife. Visitors can enjoy year-round tubing, kayaking, and canoeing along the six-mile river. Apart from eight major springs, you can also explore three scenic hiking trails, providing the perfect opportunity to observe wildlife such as river otters, manatees, and various bird species.
